Katy Perry's 'California Gurls' Is Still Number One

Katy Perry's 'California Gurls' Is Still Number One
The summer anthem, featuring Snoop Dogg, has scored a fourth week at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 countdown, just fending off a challenge from Eminem, who shoots to number two with his Rihanna collaboration "Love the Way You Lie."

Self-described “fucking strong elephant of a woman” Katy Perry has shared the man-taming secret she used to get her beau, Russell Brand. Katy told UK’s Esquire magazine that she stole the reformed sexaholic’s heart by refusing to sleep with him on the first day they met. The two were on the set of Russell movie “Get Him To The Greek” and when the comedian propositioned the singer, she threw a bottle at his head. The bottle, Katy says, “hit him smack dab on the head.” She added, “Can you imagine the horrible feeling he had, when he was used to getting everything he wanted? I was like, ‘You’ve met your match.’ ”

Katy makes sounding holding out like it’s some sort of bad-ass move that doesn’t just continue to feed a clearly psychologically damaged man’s virgin/whore complex, but hey! There’s something to be said for not stripping down and boning on day one. I’m not sure if it’s a smart way to find a husband (I mean, do you really want to have to wave your pussy above your husband’s head like you would a steak with a pitbull? I think not), but like… yeah. In general I think it’s a good rule not to sleep with hairy British comedians the first time you chill.

Katy Perry's first love declaration for Russell Brand was an extravagant affair - she hired a skywriter to tell the funnyman her true feelings.

The pop star began dating Brand last year and she confessed her love by ordering a plane to write a special message in the sky above his Los Angeles home.

Perry tells Britain's Star magazine, "The first time I told Russell I loved him, I did it with skywriting. He had not told me he loved me yet, and I decided to take the chance because I could feel it was coming. So I got everything ready. We were at his house - he has a house on Sunset Boulevard by the Chateau Marmont - and I told him to look up and there was 'I love you' in the sky! He was overwhelmed, of course. That night he told me he loved me, too, thank God. We weren't telling people much about us because we wanted to have these moments for ourselves first before sharing the details with other people."

However, Perry admits one person did suspect their secret romance - Brand's Get Him To The Greek co-star, Sean 'Diddy' Combs.

She adds, "It was pretty hilarious because Puff Daddy had kind of picked it up. Russell and him were doing a lot of promotion together at the time and he was teasing us whenever he'd see us together. One day he Tweeted, 'Love is in the air' and Russell wanted to take a picture of the skywriting to send to Puffy D."
