Iker Casillas and sara carbonero Kisses after victory World cup 2010

Iker Casillas, who saved Spain's bacon in the World Cup final with a couple of terrific saves, was awarded the man-of-the-match award for his performance and accordingly needed to give a post match interview to Spanish TV.

Casillas was hugely emotional as he gave the interview, with the presenter being none other than his (hugely attractive) girlfriend Sara Carbonero. As Casillas tried to hold back the tears during the tete-a-tete he decided in the middle to go for a different tactic of expressing himself by grabbing his missus and smooching her in front of the camera.

In a brilliantly tender moment, the kiss of the World Cup can be seen below:

After helping Spain secure a 1-0 victory over the Netherlands to capture its first World Cup in its first final appearance, goalkeeper Iker Casillas broke down in tears on the field. He was similarly overcome while being interviewed on live television after the match, so he decided to let his actions speak for him, planting a kiss on reporter girlfriend Sara Carbonero.

After emphasizing his happiness and thanking his family, Casillas had a take a moment to collect his emotions. He then added that he wanted to thank Carbonero and leaned in for the kiss.

When his missed tackle resulted in a Switzerland goal and subsequent Spanish loss in the Group H opener, many blamed Carbonero's pitchside presence for distracting Casillas.

The furor grew to the point where teammate Raul Albiol felt obligated to defend Casillas, saying "He knows what his job is, and he is fully focused on winning the World Cup."

Casillas, the captain of the Spanish squad, was voted the World Cup's top goalkeeper.

At the beginning of the South Africa 2010 tournament – after Spain’s shock defeat by Switzerland – the Spanish captain Iker Casillas was berated by his TV reporter girlfriend Sara Carbonero.

But six games later, after lifting the trophy and being asked about the triumph, all was forgiven as the goalkeeper kissed and made up on live TV.

The passionate embrace came after the World Cup winner broke down in tears and Miss Carbonero, 25, offered him time to compose himself.

Taking her by surprise, he grabbed the glamorous sports presenter – voted the sexiest in the world - as he said: ‘No, this is what I want to do.’

Casillas, 29, was named man-of-the-match after making two outstanding saves to keep his country's tournament dreams alive against Holland.

Andres Iniesta's extra-time winner then broke Dutch hearts as Vicente Del Bosque's team clinched the title following a tense and scrappy match.
